Still On The Run

Thinking back and counting all of the hurtful things that I said
When we laid back on that hill
My heart was open wide but my tongue betrayed
The story I wanted to tell
You knew what I needed, You knew what I loved
But I couldn't see it for myself
Now the road beats me down, the sun dries me out
Afraid I don't have much time left
Well the wheels keep on turning in my head and on the road
As I watch my sad story unfold
I try to find a station, try to find some comfort there
But the words just get tangled in my hair
Now I'm in this small town thats full of tumbleweeds
That remind me of what I have become
The sheriff stares me down, the preacher looks away
Broken hearted and still on the run
Still on the run
Still on the run
On the run
Im gonna fill up my take and make another round
Get on down the road and find what needs to be found
The A/C is broken and its hot in this old car
But I got the rag top down and I'm aiming for the stars
Gonna aim for where you are
Gonna aim for where you are
Where you are
In a few days when I drive
Across the county line I'll call you and I'll make that last turn
Im hoping you don't mind if I light another fire
Cause this time I'm ready to burn
Still on the run
Still on the run
On the run
My heart was open wide but my tongue betrayed
The story I wanted to tell
